Training

Workshops can each stand alone as half day events; however for maximized life-changing impact, a series of workshops can be custom designed for your enterprise. A comprehensive training combines the workshop topics and delves deeply into the science and application of living happy and getting the success we all want.

Workshops and Training

Science of Happiness

The field of positive psychology research has massively expanded our understanding of human potential—most of this discovery has happened in the last 15 years. We now know that happiness is a pre-condition for consistent success in life: the evidence is over-whelming.

We also know that happiness is not a lucky outcome resulting from a fortunate upbringing. Rather happiness generally results from skills that some people naturally pick up. This workshop makes clear that we can all learn to be happy.

Neuropsychology, through the wonder of modern science, shows that brains actually re-wire to make happiness more accessible on a day-to-day basis. Everyone can build a happy brain. The mechanisms to do so are now relatively well understood.

Learn how happiness can be brought into your life and the lives of the people you work with, play with, and love.

This workshop typically runs one half day. It often serves as a starting point for other workshops listed below, although each can readily stand on their own.

Proven happiness-building techniques

Everyone wants to be happy. Everyone wants to be successful. Relatively few people know the connection between happiness and success. And fewer still know the practical skills that lead to greater happiness and its outcome—more success.

Could becoming more happy on a consistent basis be learnable? The simple answer is “yes”. This workshop examines the 9 evidence-based interventions that truly make us happier. We can take some or all of these practical steps in our own lives and shift from getting by to real flourishing.

Imagine . . . .

. . . an enthusiastic, creative leadership team inspired to take action

. . . productivity and staff engagement rising together

. . . alignment of leadership vision and staff commitment

. . . absenteeism and presenteeism reduced

. . . future leaders stepping up today and leading by example

. . . individuals, well . . . frankly, happier ☺

Practical and immediately evident results flow from this workshop.

Making Positive Change — personally and corporately

The same principles that move an individual through successful growth and change aid in transitioning a team into a new mindset. Powerful and easy-to-apply techniques can boost motivation and direct attention to what matters most. The discipline of making change is made much easier when seen through the lens of positive psychology. Apply these principles in your business and watch teams TRANSFORM!

As with everything we do, this training is grounded in science. How do people make successful change? What motivates action? Where do change processes go off the rails and what conditions lead to success? What the heck is discipline anyway?

Participants will learn practical skills that accelerate goal achievement. This knowledge can be readily applied in organizational settings. How do teams create their own cultures? How do we then influence existing cultures to shift to healthful, dynamic, and productive beliefs and behaviors?

This workshop is designed to be reflective and participative. This allows attendees to begin to integrate their new knowledge into their own lives. Real growth always starts with the individual. When their learning results in functional personal change, then they can lead others through team transitions big and small. Techniques learned can be applied in both practical process and system changes, and through massive culture change that transforms the very identity of organizations.

Leaders as Role Models

Leadership is a way of being. Yet leaders come to their roles often by chance as much as by some clearly identified qualification. Expertise in a specific subject matter is often the main reason for promotions, but leadership requires much more than job-specific skills. Organizations that grow and succeed tap into the inherent leadership qualities that are present in each of us. This workshop de-emphasizes what we individually know and instead asks us who we are.

Traditional employee engagement programs often buy the loyalty of employees’ bodies, but do not win hearts and minds. Learn direct interventions that change the way employees FEEL about their work and their workmates. Find out how corporate cultures are open to positive change. Leverage positive psychology to bring creativity, productivity, and joy in your workplace!

Workplace culture is maintained most rigidly by front-line staff:their beliefs and behaviors are often a challenge to change. When immediate supervisors become aware of their unique influence on front-line staff, it is an organizational game-changer. Supervisors can learn a mindset that shifts them from overseers of business processes to genuine roles of leaders—seeing the big picture, articulating the direction, and embracing their team in a collaborative and committed mission.

This workshop is based on cutting-edge positive psychology and the philosophy of coaching as the ideal form of 21st century leadership. Transformative organizational change occurs when bosses are coaches, who lead with emotional intelligence and profound personal integrity.

This workshop typically runs one half day.

Body, Mind, and Soul professional development

Modern society often segments and diminishes whole-person integration. We take on physical health as its own enterprise (or not). We engage our minds in the tasks of problem solving, often leaving the wisdom of the body excluded. And, too often, we find our inherent spirituality—our quest for fulfillment and meaning—is separate from our work lives. No more. This workshop integrates our life force, so that we can be whole and happy.

This extremely practical examination of balanced living takes the onus off employers to be all things to all people. Modern human resource principles put a lot of onus on the workplace to cater to employees’ many needs. There is nothing wrong with this approach, yet it de-emphasizes the role of the individual to take charge of his or her own work-life balance.

Participants will learn scientific foundations of integrated living. They will understand the role that physical health plays in creating mental health. They will see the importance of masculine/feminine interplay, both in terms of gender-based interpersonal relationships and the need for both energies in their own lives. We are matter-of-fact about the benefits of integrated life energy—more enthusiasm, greater personal integrity, and a big boost to life satisfaction.

Spirituality is explained from a non-religious, practical point of view. Are we living in congruence with our values? Do we really know what is most important to us? What gives us purpose in life? When we know these answers, we walk with confidence into our best selves.

Mindfulness at work, in play, and for life

There is no better evidence for improving personal life satisfaction than that coming from mindfulness research. Training our mind to live closely with the actuality of the present moment is relatively easy; however, it is not a theoretical application. To be meaningful it requires experiential learning.
